Sheets and pillows and old stinky footwear.
lamps and clothes and things that aren't trash;
These are the things that folks here dump and dash.
There are a lot of things I do not 'get.' Some I fear are age related, like rap music, living on and through your phone, hashtags, and Instagram. Other things, I'm just not so sure about.
We live in an apartment complex and it's common for folks to leave. Sadly, it's also common for people to 'bugger out' in the middle of the night and just leave everything behind. In and around our dumpster at the moment are: a couch, coffee table, night stands, lamps, pots, pans, dishes, toys, clothes, shoes, electronic stuff, you-name-it and it's there. What's worse, this is the third time this has happened in the past thirty days. We have four apartments around us with eviction notices for non-payment on the door and in each case, it seems like people just walked away and left everything, even things like personal photos and keepsakes. It's hard to get an apartment here. The background check is extensive and you have to provide a security deposit, as well as first and last month's rent. Why go through all of that to just walk away from everything a few months later?
I just don't get it.
On another note, we have just passed the 52nd consecutive day of temperatures of 90 or above - this week will only add, although next Monday, the high is supposed to be 88. We will see. Other parts of the country are drowning while other parts are burning up. And still there are people yelling that there is no global warming...
