Happy Birthday to my Big Guy and to my Woobie!

It's still still very early morning, still not quite five yet.  After a three hour nap yesterday, I have to admit being a little surprised at how well I spelt and that I managed to sleepin until nearly four a.m.  :O

Yesterday   we went to the Bishop Museum in the morning and that was such fun, we toured the Polynesian Hall, the science building and the botanical gardens  The science building is fun becuase it's all hands on - they even melt glass so you can experience the heat and look of lava.  Of course we had to stop at the little shop and buy some postcards, so that is on my list today.

TBG thought it would be fun to show Jeff the Nuʻuanu pali, where Kamehameha drove the enemy army over the cliffs, thus taking control of all of the islands.  It's a beautiful place for such a brutal battle.  At night it is said that you can still hear the screams.  It became so popular with teens as a night hang out and there was a murder there a few decades ago, so now it's closed from six pm until seven am.  I somehow don't think that stops anyone.
However, we missed the turn off, so we ended up on the west coast of the island and drove around there until we ended up at a shopping center, where we found a little place that served sabu sabu.  It was great and such messy fun.  After lunch, we headed back across the island and found the pali, this time.  On the way back, I wanted stop at Hilo Hatties, but *alas* the store was closed (we have since learned that it moved to the Ala Moana mall, just a couple bocks from the hotel.  :D  I know what I will be doing tomorrow when they guys are at Pearl Harbor.
We got back and TBG decided to  nap.  I was fiddling with stuff, but then decided to join him.  Three hours later, we woke up, just about in time for our dinner reservations.  He wanted to try Alan Wong's and we had a lovely meal there.  Jeff has sweet potato bisque (it was purple) and a salad, TBG had the same soup and seared butterfish.  I had a small salad and steamed opah.  For dessert, TBG and Jeff split a macadamie nut tart and I had some mac nut gelato.  Sadly, there was a couple just a few tables from us and they seemed to be having a terrible time.  The husband was crying and the wife was sullen and withdrawn.  Two or three times the waiters stopped by their table to ask them if everything was okay.

We ended up going to bed at nine (and watching Bones) and getting a good night's sleep.  Tomorrow it's Pearl Harbor and Punchbowl!
