It's Alive! It's Alive!

Well, barely. Yesterday was... what is the word I want? Challenging? Difficult? Crappy? Hmm, all of the above, I think.

It started out with enough promise and I worked hard to get all the usual Friday chores (cleaning bathrooms, doing laundry, washing floors, etc.) done along with the stuff we needed to get done from the party and for the Halloween Challenge in Scrapbook

Then TBG called and told me that he'd spoken with the manager here and that someone would be along to take care of our repairs. Three weeks ago, we asked for someone to come in and check out the mater bedroom toilet, replace the screen for the Sliding glass door leading out to the patio and to look at the sliding glass door itself as it was grating when we opened and closed it.

Yeah, they showed up at two... we were leaving at 3:15 to pick up our friends and drive to Sacramento. They proceed to talk out the door, along with the one that didn't slide, meaning we had to leave the cats in the bedroom for the entire evening. They had food, water and two boxes - that's my idea of heaven to be honest.

We got up to Sacramento amid heavy traffic and headed to Frye's, a electronics store. I stayed in the car and talked with Sparky while the others shopped. After that we headed to the restaurant, which was literally across from the theatre, a matter of a forty second walk.

Dinner was good. I didn't take any photos because that annoys to heck out of Barb and the food, while tasty wasn't all that photo worthy. Because we were earlier, we sat in the bar for forty minutes and had drinks and warm brie. Then we headed for the table. Everyone had clam chowder, except me, I had the strangest Caesar to date (it was full Romaine leaves sprinkled with Parmesan cheese, croutons and radishes(?). The dressing was oil and vinegar, not a Caesar dressing. It was good but odd.

For our main course, I had a half chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts. TBG had a Delmonico steak (and accompaniments), Jeff had a shrimp salad, which was pretty much just bay shrimp and nothing else, and Barb had the salmon special. The food was good, but not over the top.

At 7:30, we headed over to the theatre and discovered that they were holding the house - no idea why- but finally at 7:50, they let us in. Not liking milling crowds, it put me in a sore mood. The fact that we were going in to see one of my least favorite musicals didn't help. They started late, the Marie was the most bizarre casting of that role that I'd ever seen and there was absolutely not chemistry between her and the Captain - that's tough for the love interest. The kids were okay, the costuming was odd and the wrong time period. I give the lighting, the set and the band kudos. I think we had a much better Maria and Mother Abbess.

The drive home was uneventful and we pulled into our parking space at five after midnight. then the real fun start. Jenny had dug a hole in the carpet trying to get out of the bedroom, there was cat litter (and stinky) everywhere as Bête Noir had the squirts, the water dish had been tipped (probably Pyewacket) and the place was a general mess. They were very happy to get out of that room. I was happy that there was a sliding glass door in place.

TBG put the living room back to rights - they had moved furniture, but not replaced it. I got cat food and made sure everyone had something to eat and treats and finally at 12:40, we toppled into bed... except our neighbors were having a party. That was fine, but there were some folks out on the patio talking and smoking. So much for airing out the bedroom. We closed the windows and finally, sweet, sweet sleep. Sort of... all five cats wanted to let us know just how much they loved us and woke me up two or three times cuddling (I get hot). when I woke up at 6:30, there were four cats either on my pillows or right beside me. Bête Noir had opted for the chair.

So here I am with a caffeine headache, over a hundred messages in my in box, and a long busy day ahead... The day is sunny and clear, I don't have to be to the theatre until one and I'm hoping there's a nap between now and then. If I don't get to you today, I will, promise!

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
