TBG constantly surprises me. He called yesterday and told me that United had changed the time of our flight to leaving ten minutes later than we were originally going to. Even so, we still have to be out of the house by six a.m. to get to the airport by ten (at the latest). So he suggested one of my favorite pre trip rituals. Going down the night before and staying at Embassy Suites, then walking to Kincaid's for dinner. That would mean the next morning, we would have time to relax, have a nice breakfast, and take our time before heading to the airport. That sounds so much more reasonable to me. :D
CVS did send us a coupon, so it was time to audit the first aid kit and my personal cache of drugs to see what had expired and needed to be replaced. I did a happy dance after finding a sunscreen with 100 SPF protection. The cashier checking me out asked if we were going somewhere. She is leaving on a cruise this next week. Happiness abounded as we chatted.
Getting back home, I decided that it was time to get down to it and work on the next quilting project. We have a pillow of two entwined leis, but for some reason the fabrics really faded and the white background turned gray. TBG asked me if I would replicate it. Sure, no problem. I went through all my patterns and didn't have one... okay, sort of a problem. The solution was to make my own. Easier said than done, but after wasting a ton of paper and ink, I had a pattern. After that, everything was straight forward. This is a layered design (at least that's what I call it). there is the bottom lei, then the next one and finally the greenery. The first lei is down and appliqued. I will do the second one today and figure out what I want to do with the leaves. Then it will just be straight quilting.
Last night we went out with John and Irene, having not seen them since New Year's Eve. Irene admitted that it's mostly her and being so tired. She just started a new job and is working 12 hour days, just to get her feet under her. It was such fun to see them and just talk. The only bad thing is with them, the wine does flow and I've a bit of a head this morning. Blah...
Today will be the usual chores and then let the relaxation begin! I hope everyone here has some relaxation in their immediate future. Me, I'm gonna go take some more aspirin and possibly go back to bed.
