Santa coughed and blew his nose. “Of all the time for this to happen,” he mumbled around the thermometer in his mouth.

The doctor glanced up at his from over the top of his glasses. “Uh, huh.” He released Santa’s wrist. “You have the flu.”

“Thank you, I knew that.”

“You need to stay in bed.”

“I can’t do that. Christmas is just a week away.” He coughed.” This is my week at Macy’s. Think how disappointed the children will be if there is not Santa there to listen to them read the lists.”

Finally! Finally!

My ear has finally unplugged and I can hear again. After a week and a half of silence, I can honestly say I have great appreciation for anyone with a hearing impairment. I never realized just how deaf my right ear is, but it's pretty much dead in the water. I'm still on antibiotics for a few more days, but I am ready to do my happy dance.

We closed down Annie last night and I am much relieved. It did 92.6%, which isn't bad. It should have done more, but without any posters being hung and the mailing so freaking later, I was impressed that it did this well. I am hoping that some of the families that found us will remain. It was nice having some fresh blood around.

The wine wall did okay. I think it did about $230, nearly all in red wine. In fact, I had to go out and buy a case of wine because we didn't have enough to fill the rack. We only sold two bottles of white wine... sigh... I am going to have to see if I can get the board to donate a couple bottles of red wine for the January show. People just weren't interested in white wine. We were invited to the cast dinner, but there were 80 people and the lobby was insane. We went home and I made lentil soup. It was lovely and yummy. We had a nice fire and watched a movie.

As you might guess, the office is very quiet today. In fact, we will be very quiet all week. I am so ready for Friday and so thankful that I have the time to take it, along with next week, off.

Here's wishing everyone a successful and healthy week.
