Dia de los muertos

And here we are again...

It was a week well spent, that's for certain. My big project is done at work and I managed to find all but about 24 programs. I have reached out to our long term members to see if anyone has some I can borrow for the archives.

It was perfect weather for trick or treating last night and we had a bunch of them. The last group came around eight, just as we were finishing up the last Downton Abbey episode. I can't believe we have watched all six seasons already, but we still have the movie. Anyhow, the kids were cute. We had bags of candy for them and Ferrero Rocher for the parents. They seemed delighted to be remembered. Our neighbors came over with their little guy (1st grade) and daughter (a senior). I bet he was a surprise. Anyhow, they are fun kids - we met them last year when they would come and play with the kittens. He was quite devastated when we gave the last one away.

Now come the hard part - the undecorating. We will still leave the autumn stuff up until Thanksgiving, but the Halloween stuff will come down this weekend. I've already pulled all the soft items that will need to be washed before being packed away. When I take that stuff to the shed, I will start bringing back Christmas stuff. Sigh, how can it be possible that it's time to think of such things...

It helps that Barb and Jeff are home. We are hoping to see them this weekend, but it will depend upon how they are feeling... and there's the damned time change to deal with - not happy.

My thanks to everyone who participated in my 13 Days of Halloween. Between that, the Scrapbook Challenge and Spook Me, I wrote just a few words short of 30,000. Not too shabby at all. :D

So, hello, November. I hope you will be kind to us all. Have a brilliant weekend all!

The 12 Fics (or so) of Christmas

Having hit just sort of 30,000 words for Halloween, I thought I'd see if anyone wanted a story for Christmas.

I've already got two prompts lined up (Abby's brother is one), so my offer is for the first 12 (or so) posters.

The shows I write in are: Man From UNCLE, Sapphire & Steel, Doctor Who (10), Despicable Me/Minions), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, NCIS, and Addams Family.

You can be very precise with your prompt, but I might not be able to make it work 100%, so hopefully tweaking it slightly won't make you sad.

The only show I slash is Man from UNCLE, so please don't ask for slash in something else. Crossovers are fine, but let's not get too carried away. If you want a MFU in one of the series I write(Foothills, Mouth of Babes, Working Stiffs), please let me know.

What do you say? Are you in?
Thoughtful David McCallum

Just wondering

*The Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de Muertos) is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico, in particular the Central and South regions, and by people of Mexican heritage elsewhere. The multi-day holiday involves family and friends gathering to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and helping support their spiritual journey. In Mexican culture, death is viewed as a natural part of the human cycle. Mexicans view it not as a day of sadness but as a day of celebration because their loved ones awake and celebrate with them.*

If you were celebrating Dia de los Muertos -

What family member or friend would you be remembering in particular?

Often, that person's favorite food or drink would be offered,

What you would be offering to the spirit?

Is there something in particular you would like to say to them?
