My default

And we've made it to Friday - finally

Another lackluster week at work. I remember when we used to be busy and when we had stuff to do. Now it's more a case of staring out the window and trying not to fall asleep. Araceli has been gone a lot, taking her parents and aunt to various doctor appointments. I don't know why the burden falls just on her (all her brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts etc. live here or close by, most of them not working), but I guess no one can take advantage of you without your permission. Plus she's got a cold and is trying hard to share it with us.

Yesterday we got our second shingle shot, so we are finally done with shots (aside from the annual flu one). My arm is sore and a feeling a little off, although that could also be my own wonky sinuses and having gone out last night with Barb and Jeff. They are just back from Spain and they loved it. Barb said the food wasn't as good as Italy, but she's Italian. Jeff loved it. It was just nice to have them back in town again.

And it was also the only chance we will have to see them. We are headed up to Sacramento this afternoon to shop and them see A Christmas Story. I'm not hopeful, but mostly I'm concerned about the seating at the auditorium. They are redoing the theatre at the convention center, so they have put us in the civic auditorium. No permanent lighting system, no flies, I'm not excited. Plus last year, I eagerly started watching the broadcast of the musical on TV and it was horrible. I hope, I hope it's better than that.

Otherwise, it's the usual cleaning, tidying up, and what not here. Saturday, we are going to make fruit cakes, so I'm jazzed about that. And I got started on my shopping... and my cards are due to arrive today. Slowly, I'm getting there...

I wish everyone the best possible Friday and a gloriously wonderful weekend!

The Friday Five for Nov. 8 2019

anais_pf asked:

1. What could you do for an hour or so today that you would really enjoy doing?

2. What could you do for an hour today that might improve your life in the future?

3. What could you do for an hour today that could strengthen or improve a skill you would like to be able to rely on?

4. What could you do for an hour today that would make your living space more pleasant to live in?

5. What could you do for an hour today that would improve your relationships with loved ones?

I'm sort of struggling with these today... I feel like it's a positive thinking seminar or something...

1. Probably quilting or writing.

2. Not much of anything work related as it's my day off and I gave up trying to earn a living from writing. I'm afraid that if I started quilting for money, it would take the fun out of it.

3. Um, I'm pretty much past need to develop a skill to rely upon. It doesn't mean that I've stopped learning, but to rely upon something to me means establishing a career or a relationship, both of which I have.

4. I cleaned the house and that took about an hour.

5. I would like to think that my relationships with my loved ones are on pretty steady ground as it is. My husband is still my best friend and we spend just about ever possible minute together. We talk about every and anything, same with The Boy.
