minion Bananas!

It's going to be one of 'those' days!

We have all sorts of plans for today. First we are heading over to the Farmers Market, it's been three weeks since we've gone, so hopefully we will find some great stuff.

Then we are heading up to Sacramento, the first time in forever! There we will meet up with Ken and Nancy, our theatre buddies. We haven't seen them since February and it will be nice to sit and visit. We are going to Land Park for a picnic. they are picking up the food from a small hole-in-the-wall that, thanks to its loyal customers, is surviving these harsh times.

After that, we are going to stop at Castle grocery store and I can pick up a couple bottles of my favorite wine. I still have some from our July 4th trip, but not of my favorite zin. Then we head to IKEA. What a treat that will be! We haven't been there since last year. I can pick up some votive candles, napkins and a new mattress pad (and who know what else?)

Then we head to Roseville to the Frye's there for some stuff for TBG before heading home. I have a nice easy soup for tonight - white beans and swiss chard - and I'll pick up some bread to go with it while I'm there.

The weather should be okay - high of 91 and hopefully not too much smoke. Fingers crossed that everyone's day is filled with adventure, fun and laughter!

whole baked pumpkin

this is a tasty alternative to pumpkin pie and answered the question, what do you do with your (uncarved) pumpkin after Halloween.

Whole Baked Pumpkin
Serves 4-5 generously
1 pumpkin (5-7 pounds), cleaned out and the top saved
4 eggs
2 cups whipping cream
½ cup brown sugar
1 T. molasses
½ t. nutmeg
1 t. cinnamon
¼ t. gounf ginger
2 T. butter

Remove all but the bottom rack in your over. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Mix all the ingredients with the exception of the butter. Fill the pumpkin with the mixture and top with butter.
Place pumpkin on a baking sheet and replace its top. Bake for 1 ½ hours or until firm like a custard.* If the top gets too dark, cover with tin foil.
To serve, spoon the custard and a bit of the meat of the baked pumpkin into a bowl.

This supposedly was the very first version of pumpkin pie.
*This really varies with your oven. It can take up to two hours.

Just wondering

Do you have any creaky spots(floor boards talk as you step on them)in your house ?

When was the last time you heard a 'bump' in the night? Did you investigate?

Was the weekend a success, a loss, or half and half for you?
