it started with a blood draw and a trip to the vet with a bag of five individually wrapped 'bombs' for testing. Then breakfast and some puttering around the house until after ten. At that point, the car got a well-deserved shower and shine, then I met TBG for an early lunch. After that I took a short nap and played on LJ until TBG got up and we went out to Eight Mile Rd. to pick up replacement litter and some things for Chinese New Years.
A break for a breath and it was off to pick up Barb and Joan and we headed for Morada and a crab feed. Oh, my so good. It was the first one in a long time and what a treat. They had salad, bread, and two pastas which they served first (hoping to cut their losses), then out came the shrimp, plump perfectly cooked and without seasoning. Next was the crab, seasoned and unseasoned (yay) and finally the ribs. Oh, boy, we ate and ate and ate! It was great! We waddled home around ten, totally stuffed.
This day started later(seven rather than six) because we were up later the night before. The cats actually let me sleep in (I did get up and feed them at 3 a.m.). It was then a charge out to breakfast and our usual Saturday shopping. Back around nine to find a message from the vet saying, "Yup your cat has worms. Come on by for some medicine." They were given both a one time pill and a week's supply of liquid. Yeah, they are so lovely this - not!
We decided a nap was in order, so we did that and had some lunch before heading back out. The vet and a stop at the store for a price comparison for flea meds left us in a bit of sticker shock. it was a very expensive day. Add to this we were trying to come up with a time for the Studio Ghibli event with The Boy.
I was dragging, but had some tea and kept moving by dusting and tidying up. TBG was right there to help. He is very good at cleaning and I again thanked his mother for properly training him. We also gave the cats their pills (not fun) and fed them. We were quickly forgiven when the treats flowed.
At five, we cleaned up, dressed and picked up Jeff to head to Dynasty and our Chinese New Year party. We had switched venues to this restaurant and they were very happy to help us. The food is lovely, but it comes out all at once. this is both good and bad because you get to try everything and nothing shows up in the last minute with everyone too stuffed to try it The Peking Duck and the deep fried eggplant won my 'best of the night' award. We ate and drank and laughed. The night wasn't too late, but still late enough for me. the only bad thing was that TBG had a wardrobe malfunction. He was wearing his favorite grey slacks and squatted to get something and tore the crotch out of them. Thankfully his jacket was long enough to conceal everything, but I know he felt a little uncomfortable all night.
Oh, boy, another later start, but I woke feeling really good. This was a boon because we had a cleaning day planned. We had some breakfast and then while TBG was cleaning the kitchen, I repaired his pants. After a visit to the Farmer's Market and Home Depot, we buckled down and gave the house a good cleaning.
First was the litter boxes. He dumped, I scrubbed them out, then refilled them. TBG vacuumed all the bathrooms well, to make sure there was no residue behind. After that, it was the downstairs turn. He vacuumed and I got out the carpet cleaner to attack 'problem areas' and the chairs. We did a couple loads of laundry and got the floors washed and polished By the time we finished, the place was sparkling. The day, while bright and sunny, was cooler and there was a brisk wind blowing, so we opened up the windows and let the place air out a bit.
Then there was the obligatory nap and a bit of a rest before heading to the kitchen. While I tried out a new recipe - a pine nut tart - tasted good, did not set up properly, TBG worked on rewrapping the hemp on the cat pole. After that, it was soup time and this week as a red bean and avocado salsa. Because of the winds, we had a couple bowls of avocados, so being able to use them was a boon. TBG made guac and we enjoyed it while watching Despicable Me (yay) and then we finished Spirited Away with dinner.
And now it's today, President's Day and while I have it off, TBG doesn't. I know I will go out and get some flowers for tonight (we are having guests, hence the need for cleaning). However, the bulk of the day will be spent enjoying some well earned alone time. Well, as alone as one can be with this many cats and worm medication...
Hope everyone had a fun and relaxing/rewarding weekend!
