We started with ahi sashimi and coconut shrimp, paired with Presecco (and accompanied by fresh fruit to put in the sparkling wine). Then we headed to the table where we presented our guests with a Samoan crab salad (lump crabmeat mixed with lettuce, cucumber red/yellow pepper, and sweet onion, then drizzled with a sesame dressing). It was crisp and lovely. Sam always knows how to balance tastes). The main entrée was teriyaki beef roulade, the beef was marinated overnight in a papaya, soy sauce, sake, and ginger mixture. Then it's spread with stir-fried veggies(cabbage, celery, carrot, pepper, and ginger, along with some oyster sauce), rolled and grilled. Accompanying that was parmesan potatoes(Not Polynesian, but TBG didn't want rice) and a Apothic red blend. Dessert was a Myer lemon curd and blueberry tart, served with coffee and liquors.
Because it was a Polynesian mal, I used that as an excuse to dig out some decorations. While I didn't take photos of the food (I never seem to remember), I did of the table
Of course, the cats were in attendance. Pyewacket was a social butterfly last night, but I didn't get any shots of her throwing herself at Barb and Jeff. Jenny didn't come down. I think she might have had an upset tum because she barf on the bed this morning... on my pillow, which I discovered in a way that made me glad I wasn't hung over... Now I'm doing laundry.
Today we are getting new computers installed, so I might not be around much. I'm hoping this will be fast and effortless - who am I kidding?
Have a great Monday, everyone!
