I'm falling way behind this weekend...

Yesterday was the usual early start for breakfast out and then grocery shopping. This week, we were searching for galangal and sweet soy sauce. However, we had an ace up our sleeve and went over to Angkor. Found both of them, along with some greens and a precut up stir-fry of many different vegetables (bitter melon, squash, eggplant, bokchoy, kefir leaves, etc.).

We got home and I immediately made my gazpacho for dinner, then we spent the rest of the day lazing about. I got two of the three pillows put on backing material and batting, but TBG wanted ghosts and a cat for the haunted house pillow... sigh...

We ate and lazed about until four when it was time to head over to Jeff's. He has a gorgeous backyard and pool.

We started with apps, popcorn, soft cheese and cucumbers on crackers and prosciutto wrapped melon. We had some ceviche which was pretty hot – almost too hot – and then cooled down with the gazpacho, followed by ice cream and strawberries. We got home around 8:30 and at one I woke up to skunk stink. Ugh. I turned on the fan and went into the study for a while until it aired out some. It seemed to take a long time to fall asleep after that.

We got up early and I made some Eggs Benedict, then he headed to the farmer's market. It was already starting to heat up. We opened up the place and are trying to dry carpet. The bedroom and study are dry, but the hallway is still pretty damp. We also did the living room and dining room, so that’s trying to dry out, too. It’s always amazing to me just how much dirt and gunk we pull out of the carpet.

We stopped for a bit and ended up watching A Summer Place. I'd seen it when I was very young and it was interesting to see how my viewpoints had changed over the years.

While TBG cleans up the machine, I made the stir-fry. It was good, but I think some garlic and ginger would have helped. Now I'm just trying to stay cool until it's time to start working on dinner. We are have coriander marinated steaks. It's another first, so I'm looking forward to see the result.

Hope everyone has taken the weekend by the throat and made it theirs.
