It was a fairly quiet weekend, all in all. We had some ribs with coleslaw and beans Saturday night and last night I did chili. I have a really fast and easy recipe from, believe it or not, Jim Nabors. It's tasty and aside from browning the ground beef, everything goes in at once and it cooks for 30 minutes, as opposed to other chili recipes. Granted this isn't as complex in flavor, but it's filling and fast.
This was good because yesterday seemed to be our catch up day. Not only did I get the pillows finished, but I also repotted a dozen tomatoes, officiated in the burial of a bird that didn't survive an attack by Patachou, cleaned a gallon (or what seemed like it) of bird blood out of my sand-colored carpet and ushered for the matinee of "Company" at the theatre.
There was also an after hours trip to the theatre to shade two of the parking lot lights from the neighbors house next door. She is a difficult person and has been a thorn in our side on a host of things. TBG buttered her up, so she thinks he is a knight in shining armor. He used black gaff tape and black foil to jury rig a top hat for the lights - all the while, being serenaded by the strains of "A 16 Year Old Virgin" Goddess only know how long it will last.
After two days of 100+, it has finally cooled to the mid 90's today. We bottom out at 85 on Wednesday, then back up to 100 for Friday. Whee… Today, we are enjoying the wind and keeping good thoughts for the fires up north. Hopefully the higher humidity will help them establish the fire lines they need to have.
Minnie is getting so big that there is no doubt she is with kittens. She's starting to waddle now. I feel so badly for her and wish I could make her more comfortable. She, however, is resisting our advances and I'm afraid that she will disappear to have her kittens before we befriend her. Keep good thoughts for us and Minnie.
