The one in which Spikey gets to meet a nice K-9

One of the nice things about living so close to the theatre is that it takes me less than 30 seconds to drive there. Of course, that doesn't leave me much wiggle room for running late or for when the alarm company calls about the theatre.

Last night we got a call just before 11 from the tech director. There had been an alarm from the door between the box office and the lobby. Why ADT did not call us out first is a mystery. He had had a few drinks and didn't feel that he could drive safely across town. Would we check it out? So, we got dressed and went over to the theatre. As is our standard protocol, I had my finger on the 911 button outside the theatre and TBG took his mag light and went inside.

A minute later he reappeared and said, "Call the cops. I hear someone in the booth." I got to call 911 and had a nice exchange with the operator. Within minutes two units arrived and took our information. A few minutes later a K-9 until rolled up and I met Rocky. Dennis arrived then and I briefed him. (I know, right?!?) They did a sweep of the building, setting off the alarm in the back. By midnight, they gave us the all clear and we locked up and came home.

I have all kinds of questions, like if the office alarm was triggered, why didn't it register there? It was all clear. If someone was in the booth, where did he go without triggering the alarm? The door was open and the lights were on. You can't breathe up there without being about to hear it in the lobby, as some unfortunate wayward lovers discovered - more than once. Dennis was the last one to leave... he swore the lights in the theatre were out, yet they were on when we checked and why didn't the alarm trigger when TBG opened the theatre door? So many questions I have... like why didn't Dennis or I get a call from ADT - we are on the list first?

TBG insists he heard someone walking and I believe him. He's not given to nerves. I wonder if it was our ghost. He tends to pace on the mezzanine in the shop, but I've heard and felt him in the booth.

Needless to say, I got to sleep at two this morning and managed to sleep until five. I forecast a nap in my future.
