The one in which Spikey sort of survives

Happily, we did survive the concert in the park, but it wasn't without its angst. I called in our order to Toot Sweets early, so that it would be all ready for us to pick up at five. The morning crew hadn't given it to the afternoon crew to do. Yeah, so I waited 15 minutes for that. I was not happy.

The wind came up, which was nice, even though it was warm one. We got to the park and had no trouble finding the spot TBG had scoped out for us. He was waiting to help Joan walk from the car to our spot and I followed with everything else. We got set up the shade and it was surprisingly quite comfortable.

I'd sort of lost my taste for my sandwich, but it was okay. The band was set up and looked rather sparse - there were only 10 of the usual 20 members. Because of that, they had to adjust their program and sadly the music suffered. It was pretty awful and I was heartbroken that they didn't do Sing, Sing, Sing. John just sparkles on that piece and his drum solo is incredible. Instead they did a watered down version of Ma, He's Making Eyes at Me. I'm guessing it was because they had no reeds. It was just sad.

Got Joan home - she forgot her house key... happily there was a door left open, but that bothers me, too. Got me home and everything tucked away. I opened up the bathroom door, but Minnie wasn't interested in coming out.

After sleeping pretty well, the morning was fine until I opened up the bathroom door for Minnie. I'd set up the bamboo room divider so she could move between the bathroom and the kitchen. That wasn't enough, she managed to sneak out and into the living room. To avoid a conflict between her and Titan, I picked her up and she didn't like it. She hissed and growled. I put her back on the right side of the screen. She walked into the kitchen and squatted over Titan's food dish. I yelled and she got as far away as the hallway throw rug and proceeded to dump all over it. When I ushered her back into the bathroom, it was with more hissing and growling. I don't know why she did that. She's used the box many times up to this point. Or perhaps she was trying to make a point. When I went back after breakfast, I apologized for losing my temper. She purred to me. Sigh...

The heat wave shows no sign of breaking and I'm feeling stretched to the breaking point this morning. Minnie, too, I think...
