Friday night we attended a wine dinner at Woodbridge Winery. I was hoping for something a bit more, I don't know, formal? We had had many dinners in la Campania, but it was much nicer. The food was good, though and the tasting room was open, so I got a bottle of Lodibrusco instead of the two wines they were pouring (a cab and a melbec). We started with a really nice green salad and focaccia. That was followed by ravioli (ricotta cheese and ricotta cheese and spinach), then garlic chicken and finally prime rib. Honestly, by the chicken course, I was finished. I would have been happy with the salad and the pasta. The accordion player was okay, if you like that sort of thing.
Saturday started early with TBG being up and ready to go by 6:30. We went over to the shed and got all the camping stuff and brought it home. Then we changed vehicles and headed out for some breakfast. After that, the shopping began. Two carts for our weekly shopping and the stuff for the cabin (the Rives are splitting the bill with us, so we needed to keep the charges separate). That took until nearly ten. We came home and unpacked, then I crashed for about thirty minutes, getting up just in time to get lunch ready.
Then it was off to the theatre for the matinee of the kids' show. We nearly sold out, which was nice. It's always a hoot being there for the show. The kids seem so much better behaved than grownups when it comes to attending theatre. I got home around 2:30 and did some catch up on line. however, my heart wasn't in to and I pulled the plug early. Went downstairs and spent time with Minnie and her minions. The largest (a grey and white one we are calling Fox) has opened his eyes. I'm certain the rest will follow suit soon.
Dinner was Honey and Soy Chicken, with baby corn and bean sprouts. It was very yummy, but it didn't make much sauce. Next time I will add a little chicken broth to it. The cats had been out all day and they crashed soon after they came in. We watched a little TV and I headed to bed early. I suspect TBG wasn't far behind me.
Today after breakfast, we need to run out to Walmart for cat food and twin size sheets, then to Cost Plus for some scone mix and then back home to make dinner, a potato and leek soup, which we are taking to Jeff's tonight. I need to check with him and see if we are still swimming as the air quality is pretty bad. The good news is that the heat wave is supposed to break on Tuesday. I can't wait.
So, what have you been up to this weekend?
