We got boarded on the Dreamliner and found our seats without issue. TBG had searched high and low for one of these planes and it was well worth the effort. Would you believe I actually slept for nearly seven hours? That made the eleven hour trip bearable. The food was very good – I had a lentil chili that was great. Watched “Hotel Transylvania 3 and quilted. Before I knew it, we were landing in Munich.
This was the longest part of the trip. We had a five hour layover and even though we were able to use the Lufthansa lounge, it was still a long wait. The flight to Venice was smooth and very short, but they literally fed us from the minute we boarded – handing out cookies and water as we boarded. Then they followed that with beverage service and a dish of fruit and a lovely bread pudding. *yum*
We landed and our suitcases were the first ones off. *G* We walked to the exit (uscito) and there was a Princess rep waiting for us. He took us to our ‘real’ guide and Melissa stayed with us until we checked into the Bauer. This is why we enjoy Princess so much! She helped TBG with his travel pass (we got a seven day pass for the various water transports, excluding gondolas, then took us to our water transport and then to the Bauer. I was glad I started my Dramamine a few days early. It was a bumpy ride in.
The hotel is very nice and our room (264) is very small, but cozy. It’s an interior room, which means it’s very quiet. We took a short nap and then went in short of the hotel restaurant. We didn’t want the hassle of trying to find something outside the hotel until we had a chance to get our bearings.
The De Pisis Restaurant was gorgeous and it wasn’t busy as it was still early (7:45 pm) by Venice standard. We started with a lovely scallop and roasted pumpkin app that was so delicious. We decided to have the fish for two entrée. It was a great choice. The fish, a sea bass, was accompanied with roasted root vegetables. Perfect choice for dinner, and the vanilla gelato the perfect ending.
We turned in around 9:30 and a slept until eight the next morning. I feel refreshed and ready to take on St. Mark’s Square, despite the rain! :D
