Oh, this was a very different time

Yesterday I was going through my cookbooks and getting rid of the ones I hadn't used in years. there were many, but among the books were also these little 'helpful' pamphlets/booklets letting you know how to best use the product.

One of these was 'The Holsum Recipe Book" Holsum was a type of bread that we had back East. This book touted, "Hi, you busy homemaker! Relax- enjoy these new timesaving food ides. Watch their variety sweeten family smiles. You'll have fun fixing these delicious nutritious recipes."

Inside were fourteen recipes on how to use bread... like making toast (You'll never ben in a jam at breakfast or snack time with fresh toasted bread and jelly). Or Man overboard! He will be when you set this dazzling ham and egg plate before him. Stack plenty of fresh hot toast at his elbow. Both offered recipes on how to make toast...

I never knew bread could be this complicated...

And just so you know I'm on the up and up...
