Okay, it's almost time to start breathing again...

Can’t believe we’ve made it to the end of our parties. Tonight is our dinner party and then we will have a night off. I can’t wait, however, I have to say I’m excited about cooking tonight. It’s going to be a fun menu. Barb V won’t eat anything with four legs, so we are restricted to seafood and poultry. Happily I adore chicken, so it wasn’t hard to find something. The menus is as such:

Apps – bird nests (shredded zucchini, carrots and onions that are battered and deep fried) and caramelized cheese and cranberry bites. Both are from Trader Joes - Prosecco

Salad – Chicken yakatori over spinach, picked cucumbers and onions - Prosecco

Entrée: Mango spiced Chicken with coconut rice and green beans with pancetta (I will serve it on the side). Pinot Gris, although I will also open a red for me)

Dessert: A trio of fruitcakes with ice cream, coffee and liquors.

The house has been cleaned, scrubbed, polished and shined. It practically glows. TBG deserves an award, he vacuumed up nearly two complete cats’ worth of cat hair.

The Boy has come and gone. It was a real whirlwind visit, but it was so great to see him, even for just a little while. We had dinner at Masa, looked at each other’s travel pictures and listened to his employment woes. He loves his job, he just wants everyone to come up to his very strict standards of work. He’s hard on himself and thinks others should be the same. There is talk about making one of his creations an international marketing icon, so that’s exciting. I can’t understand him anymore when he talks and I’m not sure TBG does either, but he talks a good story. We had breakfast this morning, then he headed back home. It was a short visit, but still nice to see him.

Anyhow, that’s been my busy Friday and Saturday. Now I am off for a short nap before jumping back into it. Enjoy your weekend!
