Well, that was anticlimatic

The show was okay. It was Disney and the little store did well. it seemed like everyone was carrying around cloth bags from there. I wasn't really impressed with the show, over all. The songs from the movie were great. I mean, Arabian Nights was fun and so was You Never Had a friend like Me, but Jafar phoned in his performance and the genie, I don't know. He just rubbed me the wrong way. I guess my love for Robin Williams was coming out. The Tomb of a Thousand Wonders was a lovely set, but the rest was very fractural. A Whole New World was done with a Ponti projector and was amazing visually, but it pulled attention from the singers.

Thankfully, we didn’t have any trouble with security, but they would not let anyone leave the theatre by the west doors. Usually folks go out there to smoke and get some air. The doors were blocked, physically, by ushers. I have no idea why. Five minutes to intermission the show suddenly stopped and people were told to stay in their seats. The Show Control went down and that meant, the show couldn't go on without it. Just when I was wondering if we would be released for Intermission, it started up again. Never did find out what happened backstage. I was talking with a tech, but he said they weren't permitted anywhere near any of the equipment backstage.

We went to Tapa the World (I will have photos later) for dinner and hoped to meet our friends. We had been phoning them for a while with no response. Finally I asked if TBG had texted them. He hadn't, so he did that during dinner. We were in bed around midnight when their response came back. They were just sailing out of Helsinki bound for St. Petersburg. In the four weeks between the last show and this one, they booked and went on a cruise of the Baltic. There are times I wish we could just up and go like that, but then part of travel is the anticipation of the trip itself, the research, the planning and whatnot.

Tonight we are having our friends over and we are going to attempt Steak Pizzaiola. This was the recipe that was given to us by the singer. Jeff has just returned from Venice and London, so I'm looking forward to hearing his stories. Hopefully, jet lag won't scuttle our plans, but you can never tell. We are going to do a Strawberry Swiss Roll for dessert and TBG is excited. How the man loves to cook. :D I'm lucky to have a willing partner.

Tomorrow is mine (at least for now). I hope that everyone is looking forward to a glorious weekend of R&R!
