After a very fast trip down the hill on Saturday, we did our grocery shopping and headed home. The cats were in great shape - they really respond well to Barb V. and happily, there wasn't the smell of cat urine as we came in. It was a little stale, but other than that nothing.
We got everything put away and the laundry started, then took a bit of a siesta while waiting for it to finish. Then lunch, a nice shower and it felt like home again. We were having chicken kabobs, so I made a marinade for them while TBG took another short nap.
Dinner was the kabobs, some Israel couscous and salad. By now, the day was really starting to wear on me, so it was time to plant myself in front of the TV - to my delight, there were a Mummy and The Mummy Returns on one channel and Harry Potter on another, so we went back and forth until bedtime.
Sunday dawned a bit cooler - eight degrees by day's end. It was a pretty typical Sunday around here with the exception that it was the last day of the wine wall. I'd run it for a year and figure that if someone else wants to take up where I left off, so be it. We had a good day, making nearly $300 with it again. People have really warmed up to it and seem to enjoy the concept. I wish someone else would continue on with it, but it is what it is. I can't make the theatre fundraise.
Barb C. was there and oddly enough gave us the cold shoulder, saying hi from a distance and nothing else. She was hugging and chatting up everyone, except us. As the show sponsor, she expects people to make much of her and there was considerable fawning. She was at the height of her Downtown Abbey 'you are beneath me' attitude. I hate it when she gets like that. We tried to ask her how Snickers was (he went berserk July 4th and destroyed a mess of stuff in her house, along with our Costa Rica gifts - convenient that - and ate a mess of chocolate. He had his stomach pumped and we were curious how he was doing), She looked at us as if we'd exposed ourselves to her. I don't understand.
Anyhow, we came home, made some pizza and crashed with Porcco Rosso/i>. With the exception of a messy dismount from Pye in the night (I think she fell off her platform and hit the bed hard) and a car alarm this morning, I slept like a log.
And now Monday...
And a shot of the last wine wall with yours truly.
