It's a time to wax poetic and reflect back on the time. 2010 was when I started at SCT as the office manager with Pat and Jim at the helm. Now Pat is gone and Jim is fading. It's hard to see the vibrant folks who guided us for so many years to slow and step aside. In the beginning, my job was so frantic and crazy. Now it's next to nothing, just some correspondence and filing. Most of our ticket sales are on line now, despite the fact that people pay more for it, meaning the box office is slowing down, too. My feeling is that when I leave, they will make the business manager position full time and hire someone to handle the box office and my desk. I know Araceli wearies of working nights and weekends.
I remember cats... lots of cats, some no longer with us, like Growtiger and Sir Hissalot, and others a welcomed addition (all five of the current lot). And the kittens - that was an adventure and a half.
I remember glorious trips to Hawaii, Devil's Island, Russia, Fiji, Venice, the Panama Canal and many stops in between. I got to cross off one of my bucket list items by standing on the streets of Pompeii and looking at Vesuvius. I went to the heart of theatre and stood in the footsteps of Thespis and others to come.
I remember more laughter than tears, more joy than sorrow, more friends than acquaintances. In short, it's been both a pretty good year and a pretty good decade. It's my hope and prayer that you, my friends, can say the same. Here's to a brand new decade filled with the unknown. I hope there's pudding...
