Last night we got to see a protest first hand. We went to Macaroni Grill for dinner and were going to sit outside, but it was too chilly... yeah, it was 105 the day before. Anyhow, we decided to move in just as the manager was coming out to suggest we dine in. What we didn't know what that there was a massive protest scheduled to happen right outside. We realized something weird was going on with they shuttered all the windows and brought everything in from outside. The manager came over and told us that they were having to close, so we had dinner boxed up and ended up at Barb's place for dinner.
When we left the restaurant, the street was packed with demonstrators and a cop escorted us to our cars and out of the parking lot (lest we join in, I guess). Everything was very peaceful and no looting occurred, but it was a little exciting to see it happening here. This was only the second protest since everything started. Not exactly how I thought the evening was going to go, but there you have it.
Today it was so cold, I ended up in jeans and a sweater for our grocery shopping. This afternoon is sunny and bright, but still cool.
Hope everyone is having an okay weekend so far. I can't see how mine will get better... well, I'm making Grand Marnier soufflés for dessert tonight.
