Because of our exposure to Irene, we have been keeping a low profile this week. Jeff invited us to lunch, but then between the heat and our situation, we declined. Jeff’s patio is nice, but at noon it’s just too hot now to eat there comfortably. In fact, we were thinking it would be nice to go to El Torito (they have set up a massive tent (marque) in their parking lot, but unless they have fans, it’ll be too hot to bear it.
Aside from some allergies, we are doing fine. We did have a skunk stink bomb our front porch (oh, yay… not) and I woke up to both the smell and a migraine. That was Wednesday. Thankfully, but now it’s better. I went out to spray down the porch and broke our watering timer. It was just the second ‘ugh’ in a long day of them. TBG ordered a new timer, which will be here in a couple of weeks. Until then, I’m watering half of the front garden by hand. It’s hot and I get to play in the water. It’s a win/win.
Today marks TBG’s 42nd anniversary with AT&T. I told him I would chill some Prosecco and we would have Aperol Spritz tonight to celebrate. Normally we would have a big night out with friends, but that’s not going to happen for some time to come.
I finished my latest quilting project – birds of paradise and started a new one, Obake Anthuriums. It’s to replace a pillow whose fabric has rotted away. I don’t know what happened. I have older pillows that are fine, but not this one. I also found a pattern for a wall hanging, Ohelo berries. I think I might make that as a Christmas gift. It will have to wait until I can get to a store for material. It’s too big for my fat squares (38” x 38”) or anything I have on hand.
I received my milkweed seeds and happily planted them. Hopefully something will come of it. The soil is fertilized and watered, so here’s me with my fingers crossed. I’m hoping the heat won’t be too much.
That’s about it. The rest of the time was taken up by chores, cooking, and computer stuff. Other than that, I have no excuses…
And now for some photos....

My too tired Titan
The Two Ps have exhausted each other. (and yes, those are more quilting projects, although not mine)
This is one of Bete Noir's favorite places to sleep. She loves this little gecko. I often find it in different parts of the house.
