If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing
Let's break out the booze and have a ball
If that's all there is... Peggy Lee (1969)
Yesterday, I got an e mail from Jenny asking if I could come in and teach her Fundraiser. It is the database program I used to keep track of various donations, events, what have you. Whenever you donate even the smallest amount, we send you a thank you/tax letter. At the end of the year, for the big donations, we will send a year-end tax letter. She was sending out thank you letters, but not adding them to Fundraiser or the sustaining membership list. She needed me to explain all of that to her.
It's a pretty straightforward program that I taught myself (plus I had a manual), so it didn't take her any real time to figure it all out. That accomplished, it was time to leave. Since I'd been waiting for that and knowing that I would have no more real inputting to do, I took my wireless keyboard and mouse (a gift from TBG) and replaced them with the regular keyboard and mouse.
So many changes are happening backstage, the green room is completely redone and changed, the rehearsal hall is on its way to becoming a black box and even the hallway between the lobby and backstage has been gutted and is being redone in anticipation of the new bathrooms. We have a new board taking over the first of August, peopled by strangers to me.
In the 'other' pre-CV world, I had intended to plunge into working on props for A Christmas Story - the musical or even offering to do some painting on Something Rotten, but there is no call for volunteers at the moment.
Everything is changing and I then realized it was done. The world has moved on without me and I am no longer in that small company of SCT employees (well, I am, but not really). I'm now an outsider and I'm not quite sure how I feel about this...
Retiring is hard.
