TBG is a fan of the BBC news site. He recently came across some recipes that 'helped us get through the war' and made copies of some. Last night we tackled Somerset Chicken and traditional Bread and Butter Pudding. It was a bit of a learning curve, since everything was in ounces or metric and it wasn't without its issues.
The pudding recipe called for a cup of double cream. TBG had 2 6 oz container of its. I caught him entering the whole of the second bottle and stopped him, telling him needed half the bottle at best. He exploded. He was convinced, completely convinced that a cup equally 16 oz. He got so upset until I pulled out the glass measuring cup and showed him. Then he calmed down and apologized, of course, and we went onward. He was totally and utterly convinced that a cup was 16 oz.
After that, everything was fine and we cooked happily for another couple of hours without any issues. I think the whole CV thing is doing a number on him, too.
Anyhow, our results:
I think it needed more cheese. Those strips aren't potatoes but rather apples. Very tasty!
I think we needed a sn=mall pan so there would have been more custard on top. It was still very yummy!
Jenny's favorite sleeping place at night. this way she doesn't miss up going upstairs (she's sleeping on the light controller)
Araceli brought us some peaches and I made cobbler.
This was my rackof lamb from our dinner Friday night. It was so incredibly good. And I didn't have to wash the dishes afterwards!
