I have no words today...

Yesterday ended up being a very busy and sort of crazy day. We cooked like crazy. At the end of everything, I had a roasted chicken, chicken stock, mushroom soup, two strudels, two loaves of bread and five Tuscan potato packets – all before 8 a.m.. It seems like all I did was spend day in the kitchen cooking or running.

We did have a nice breakfast with Jeff and the strudel hit the spot! The swim was heavenly and very refreshing. After that we went to the Farmer’s market and to Trader Joes (Jeff told us of a stir fry he’d done and TBG wanted to replicate it). We got home and cleaned up, then I took a bit of a nap, then went downstairs to debone the chicken, started the stock, and make lunch. After that, I took the other strudel over to Joan and visited with her for about an hour.

TBG saved me by making dinner last night. it was the first time he'd tried his hand at mushroom soup and he did a good job. He had me to the white sauce for him, but everything else was his. When we went to Angkor, he picked up a variety of mushrooms, so the soup had more umami than usual.

We were just settling down to watch the rest of the DVD we’d started the night before (A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum) when we, once again, lost power. PG&E didn’t know what caused it, but it went out at 6 p.m. on the dot and came back at 7 p.m. on the dot. Hmm… and it was only 112 degrees out at that point. We lost it again at 8, but thankfully for just a few minutes, just long enough to make us have to reset all the clocks again. You don’t want to know all the names I had for PG&E. I'm almost afraid to try to watch the last ten minutes of it tonight...

For one reason or another, I couldn’t sleep, even with some milk and a cool shower. I think I finally drifted off at about 11, only to wake up every hour on the hour or so it seemed. I feel like crap today and am still overheated and not happy. It’s already 80 degrees out and the a/c hasn’t stopped running since I got up (and we have it set at 78). Today will be a good day to keep me away from people, I think. I've already gotten annoyed with some of the stuff I've been reading. Thankfully, we are doing a simple ahi salad for tonight and there’s no cooking on the menu. Even so, I’m tired and grumpy.

Some photos before I forget...

Pyewacket taking it easy

I rotated these, but I guess it didn't take.  Judy brought me a retirement gift.  chocolate covered fruit..  TBG ate the chocolate, I ate the fruit.

The strudel just out of the oven

And after breakfast( this is at Jeff's)!
