The World According to SG

It’s been a heck of a week. Everything is coming down around our ears, although that’s merely part of the planned demolition. Thankfully, we appear to have a week of rain ahead for us – although I will believe it when I see it – so there won’t be any work done then.

Our front patio is now wall-less and the cats, along with the cockroaches, have no idea what to do. They are running around all confused, but still manage to show up for breakfast and dinner (the cats, not the cockroaches). The villas on the ends have no walls at all, but our upper deck is still in place.

I should apologize for my complaining early in the week. I realize that having a cruise line sell a ship and cancel a cruise or two is nothing compared to not having a job, dealing with depression or even death because of the pandemic. Still, it felt like another blow against our recovery and a move to more freedom. It was nice to have a local station start to do some investing into what is going on with the state. There’s crap going on here. We have 100,000’s of vaccines in our county, but none are being distributed. The governor, who promised transparency, has been found to be keeping certain pandemic numbers ‘private’ – when KCRA tried to find out, they were told they needed to file an open records request. They did and were told that die to the pandemic, they didn’t know when they could get to it. He’s not that many signatures away from being recalled, so the Gov. should step lightly.

We rebooked yet another cruise with Princess, if only to try and close this chapter in our life. This one would be going to Papua New Guinea, and is the trip TBG wanted. Guess my bucket list isn’t going to see the last two items crossed off it.

In the meantime, we do our best. The inauguration this week was hopeful, but there is still much work to be done. I hope the unity that was spoken of that day will be evident in the weeks and months to come.

Last night we had a crab feed. Okay it was just the three of us and there were no silent auction items or raffle gifts, but it was still fun and the crab was fabulous. We ate, seemingly, for hours and still didn’t finish. I have enough to make crab cakes for an app tonight.

And now for some photos:

A rainbow on the way to Barb's.  I've never seen one so large before

The Bowl o' crab

With TBG for size.

It only too me four days to color this - my thanks to alton_lust
