You know how they say life is what happens when you are planning for something else?
Since it was going to be so hot this weekend, Jeff invited over for lunch and a swim. I was very excited, but also a little concerned that we were rushing the issue. Yeah, I know, but I don’t like a cold pool.
We had a lovely breakfast and were on the bed reading when the phone rang. It was Jeff and his voice sounded off. He asked to speak with TBG and I figured he was having computer issues.
TBG talked to him for a minute and then said, “I’ll be right there.” Jeff’s blood pressure was through the roof and TBG drove him to the hospital. He was admitted for pneumonia, apparently a common result from having radiation. Anyhow, he is staying there a night or two. The girls immediately drove up and they are at the house now, so at least he won’t be alone for a while. He didn’t even know he was sick, but his blood pressure was sky high and he got scared. He’s doing okay, but it meant a big change in our plans. Not that I minded, far from it, but I worry. It reminds me just how tenuous our hold is at times.
After TBG got home, we spent a quiet day of just hanging around. I’d made dinner early (gazpacho), so there wasn’t much to do. I spent it getting a couple new quilting projects lined up and ready to go.
Not the day I was anticipating, but as long as Jeff is okay, that’s all I care about. Hang onto your friends. Hug them well and let them know how much you love them because you never know when life will throw you a curve ball.
