My effort:

Sapphire shivered in the cold breeze and then smiled as Steel draped his coat over her shoulders. It was one of the dividends of having a partner who didn’t mind the cold.

Steel struggled to control the integrity of his thoughts and restrict them to the matter at hand. The wagon jostled, tossing him into her. Instead of pulling away, she drew closer and his arm instinctively went around her shoulder.

“We’ll be there soon,” he said, reassuring her.

“I’m fine.”
Yes, you are.

Steel!
