Tahiti and Back Day 7
The reality that this trip is rapidly drawing to a close hit today – we had to do laundry. Thankfully, the hotel has a nice laundry room and it’s just below us. Two hours later, it was done and I had the pleasure of clean underwear again.
It was a quieter than usual day. We spent a lot of time in the room just reading and relaxing. For lunch, we decided to grab some take out and drive some place. We ended up at the Fern Grotto (alas, I forgot the phone back at the hotel). It’s basically a collapsed lava tube that flooded, but it does offer a nice break from the sun. However we really didn’t need that as it’s gotten cooler here. Just a few degrees cooler, but it makes a difference.
Back to the room for a nap and some computer time before we headed out to the lagoon to do some snorkeling. It was pretty murky, thanks to some playful boys, but we still saw a boatful of fish. The towel attendant gave TBG some fish pellets, so we were everyone’s friends. :D
We did some laps and visited with our retired French general. The pool was very full, lots of kids, but it was nice to wash off the salt water. Back up to the room for a shower and some nibbles on the balcony before heading out for dinner.
We had planned to go back to the Blue Banana on Monday, but discovered it was closed, so tonight was now or never. They remembered us and gave us a table out on the patio. It is the smoking section, but no one was smoking. It was amazing once again.
This time, TBG had an incredible lasagna and I had wahoo in a vanilla cream sauce. Wow! I was bad and instead of a salad, I had fries. He has some amaretto over ice to drink and I had a vodka tonic.
Back to the room, we sat outside and listened to the band in the bar until they had enough and quit. Us, too, and it was lights out. Happy dreams!
