Not my best effort...

Some nights it was so easy, like this one, warm, inviting. A gentle breeze drifted through the open window. Any debate at this point would have destroyed the ambiance and shot down his chance.
He was so close he could taste it. It was just beyond his grasp.

Suddenly, a hand flashed in front of his face and he sat back, startled, his trance broken.

“Are you all right?”

“All right is a funny word, inn’t? When is something all wrong?”

“Like us, Spike?”

“Yes… I’ll see a penny and call. In for a penny, in for a pound.”
