It's almost time.

For some reason, I just haven't been as into Halloween as I usually am. It might be because of the upcoming trip or having to do a lot of holiday stuff early - we only have two weeks when we get home - it's hard to say.

To that means, last night I did a dinner party for Barb and Jeff. We started with some grilled shrimp and avocado on cucumbers, followed by Cream of Broccoli soup with creme fraise and pistachios, then the pork tenderloin (and mushrooms) in port, zucchini 'pasta' and roasted green beans with cheese and bacon (or pancetta, in this case). Dessert was baked persimmons with coconut ice cream and a mac cookie.

Everything went together perfectly and turned out well (I would have preferred the pork to have been a bit more medium rare). A strange thing, halfway through the meal, a very drunk Irene called and wanted to know if we were having a party. I said no, not this year. Then she wanted to know when we were leaving for Egypt and then she hung up. It was very odd...

Anyhow, all the dishes are washed and put away. Breakfast (biscuits and gravy) is done, the bread is rising, and TBG has gone for his morning walk. Me, I'm ready to head back to bed.

Oh, on the kitten front, TBG managed to pet one of the kittens last night. This one spends a lot of time looking in through the window at us. A proper house cat in the making, I am certain of it.
