Good morning from smoggy Cairo!

The flights yesterday were long, but the longest didn’t seem that bad as we slept through a lot of it. We met some great folks on the four-hour from Frankfurt to Cairo. I have to say the while the food was no great shakes on the United flight, it was fabulous on the Lufthansa leg. I was blown away by the variety and flavors of it. It felt like most of yesterday was spent sitting and eating. Surprisingly, I feel pretty good today, despite a raging headache from a lack of caffeine.

Everyone here has been very helpful, almost too helpful. The hardest part is getting my ear around the accents. Everyone speaks English, though, at least well enough for us to communicate with.

Our room is comfortable, but could be anywhere. We do have a lovely view of the Nile and supposedly you can see the pyramids. The Nile I can see, the pyramids, not as much. I've taken photos, but We are having issues with our e mail. The hardest part is not drinking the water. wo bottles just isn't enough after a long flight. It's free, though, so we will know to ask for more today. Today is a down day, so we are focusing upon just relaxing and getting our schedules turned around. It's 11 hours forward from California time, so it will take a bit.

I promise the post will be more interesting tomorrow, but now - a shower!

The Nile!

The Pyramids, sort of
