Brisbane Day 5 – A River Tour... kinda

The day started slowly, the guys needed to get themselves together for the trip back to Melbourne, so we didn’t meet until about 11:30. We had scheduled a boat tour to see the city from the Brisbane River.

We had wanted to take the 10:30, but it was sold out, so we took the 12:30 one instead. The cruise wasn’t as organized as it could have been, but that’s neither here nor there. It was a full tour and we were third and fourth on the ship. The guys sat on the cushions that rain along the side, while TBG and I choose chairs.

It should have been fun, but there was this very loud family sitting behind us. First, they shamed the boys into moving so their party could sit closer together and be part of the group, but then the two never interacted with them the entire trip. Nor did the woman leader of the group, who insisted they needed to be included, never shut the heck up. She was in direct competition with the loudspeaker and whenever it got louder, so did she, shouting over it in Spanish. Because of that, I didn’t catch 90% of what was being said. And they talk about ugly Americans. The minute the loudspeaker shut up (they were having issues with it), so did she, It was very funny, in a twisted way.

We did run into a very nice couple who will be on our ship. They were as equally annoyed. :D I mean, the tour wasn’t cheap, why would you spend all the money and then never look at the homes or listen to the history of the place you are visiting?

Afterwards, we took the guys back to their hotel to pick up their luggage and then had a late lunch with them at the Westin. It was sure hard to say goodbye to them when we ran them out to the airport.

We headed back to the hotel, got a little lost, but it was okay. We found our way eventually (or rather the GPS did). Watched a little TV, then wandered over to a place called Buffalo, where we had some of the best chicken parmesan I’ve ever had. The chicken was so moist and tender. We shared a plate and that was more than enough. Back to the room for some shut eye and got rained on. It was light and warm, so no harm. I was more than ready for some sleep. :D We got a text that their plane has been delayed 40 minutes, no idea when they were going to get home. Thankfully, they both have the rest of the week off.
